There’s an old proverb that says, “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.” What does it mean? It means you can’t do anything about what you haven’t done up to this point in life. It means start today… right now… to make a change; to make a difference.

What do I do?

It’s not a matter of what. It’s a question of why. Let’s just say you’re tired of your job, but you like the work that you do. You think you can branch out on your own. You have the skills. You know some people. All you need to do is walk into your boss’ office. Let her know that you’re quitting, and start your new venture. Right? No? Why not?

What’s keeping you from doing it? What stops you from launching out into the deep, and gathering up a net full of fish? I would dare say it’s the voice inside your head that’s afraid of the unknown.

Fear keeps 90% of the world’s population from making a change. Men will sit destitute; waiting to be rescued versus arming themselves with the knowledge to rise up and walk; not just a new path, but a path that has already proven to be successful. Success leaves clues, and anyone could achieve a level of success in their life that would completely and utterly sustain them.

Most people can see someone else starting a new business, a new career, getting a home, or traveling the world, but they never see it for themselves. They can’t envision the same or greater experience for themselves. Unfortunately, most people identify themselves with failure or lack when, in all actuality, inside of them is all the makings of greatness.

There is no greater time than right now to start anew. Not just because it’s a new year.

But, really, because you have a new mind. Don’t let the old You stop the new You from creating the future you’ve always wanted.
